Quite the Experience.

I was given a coupon to a local paint along studio for me and a guest to get in free. Me and Caleb went in hopes to at least give one of them as a Christmas gift. No such luck. Both turned out horrible, not present worthy.

Take a look.

The instructor was an amazing painter but horrible teacher. I do not recommend this place at all. However we did have fun, for the most part, when we accepted that there was no saving the paintings.

I did thoroughly enjoy getting to paint together.

Why oh Why?

Why do I even bother with this whole cooking thing? It’s clear that I will just never get it. Let me tell you about my little mishap this afternoon.

All day I had been craving snickerdoddle cookies, don’t know why they aren’t even my favorite. I found a really simple recipe and I had almost everything for them all I needed was nutmeg, eggs and vanilla extract. I was super excited about this recipe because it made 3 dozen and Caleb has a friend coming into town tomorrow so I would have plenty of chances to perfect the cookie.

Got all the ingredients around, mixed the dry, mixed the wet, mixed them together, rolled into balls and dipped into the sugar & cinnamon. Everything was going great, managed to bake the first dozen with no problem. After cooling, I tasted one and thought it was horrible. Something wasn’t right and it was the cinnamon. That’s what happens when you buy $1.00 Kroger brand of cinnamon.

And then all of a sudden, it hit me… “Does sugar and flour expire?” I ran to the kitchen, checked the sugar… 2012, still good and then the flour…

That’s right- January 1, 2010!

Thankfully Caleb had only had 3 cookies.

Caleb didn’t feel so lucky, he immediately said his stomach hurt and was having trouble breathing, while laying on the floor “dying,” asking “Is that heaven?” and then jumping to calling the police for attempted murder.

Since he has asked about a hundred times already, “Why did you try to kill me?” I have a feeling this will be a story that will follow me for the rest of my life and also put a quick end to my cooking and baking, at least for a while anyways.
